Resume

Growing up in rural San Luis Obispo & Cambria I’ve always had some kind of animal & not just Cats & Dogs. I have had Sheep & goats, chickens & Rabbits,  Guinea Pigs & Horny Toads, Birds & Fish.  Currently my husband & I have 3 cats, a Chameleon, a Leopard Gecko & if I can keep the raccoons out of the yard some goldfish.

After working as a Registered Veterinary Technician in Santa Maria , Morro  Bay & Cambria for 20+ and sewing for a few years, I started  pet sitting 1991.

The name Aunties Paws N the Pines was settled on after several name changes over the years.  I joined Pet Sitters International in 1998 & became a ‘Professional Pet Sitter’ & joined the Central Coast Professional Pet Sitters Network of San Luis Obispo County.

Because of increased family responsibilities I found it necessary to add extra help. Marilyn Zahm has been helping out for several years however she is not always available so I created the Aunties Team with the additions of Kay Luthi, Teri Sanders & the newest auntie Bonnie Ahlstrom.

Auntie Marilyn Zahm

I grew up with lots of animals---cats & dogs mostly. My dad was a huge animal lover. All of our dogs, no matter how big (German Shepards were a favorite!) would sit on his lap! It’s the happiest I ever saw him!!

When I was 13, my dear sweet Gorden Setter gave birth to 13 beautiful puppies. She couldn’t possibly take care of all of them---so I hand nursed a number of them. They all grew into thriving teenagers---my first experience with animal husbandry!

Although I always thought about becoming a vet, I went into counseling instead, always living with and loving animals---mostly cats!

When I met my husband, Warren, one of my dating prerequisites was that my cat, Pudder, like the guy. Well—she loved him---the rest is history!! Warren and I currently are blessed with 4 healthy cats---one of which found and adopted us!!

My husband and I moved up to Cambria full time in 1993 and began using Evelyn as our pet caretaker several years later. I began assisting Evelyn a little more than eight years ago, took her Pet CPR class, then began filling in for her on her rare vacations! I just love meeting all of the wonderful pets in Cambria and spending time with them while their people are away. I find myself asking Evelyn  “How’s Peaches or Calvin or Ella or _________ doing!?!? “
I miss them after seeing them daily for a week or so!

I hope to meet your precious pet some day soon!

Auntie Teri Sanders

I’ve had pets all my life.  Mostly cats, but lived with a wonderful German Shepherd and now have a beautiful standard poodle named Rupert and three cats—Buster, Boots and Fifi.  Buster and Boots were trapped behind the gourmet fudge shop in Cambria about 8 years ago and I fostered them until deciding to keep them.  Fifi is also a rescue and she has dwarfism.  She is our “special” little girl.

I was involved with HART for about 9 years.  I served on the Board of Directors and volunteered in the office.  I have fostered many cats and kittens over the years; bottle fed kittens and worked with ferals.  I worked in a local veterinarian’s office for 8 months when my youngest son was in junior high school.

I live in Cambria with my husband, Greg.  We have 3 children, our youngest starting his second year at Arizona State University in Tempe.

I enjoy taking care of local pets as a new member of the pet-sitting team!

Auntie Kay Luthi

Molly LuthiHi my name is Kay Luthi and 4 years ago I retired and moved to Venice, Ca, to be with my daughter.  Once in Venice I started taking care of my daughter’s friend’s dogs and realized that I had a new part-time career.  So for the next 3 years I built up quite a nice Dog Walking & Sitting business.

We visited Cambria and fell instantly in love and made a pretty big and sudden move.  Once here I was introduced to Evelyn by the Welcome Lady Joanne Hale (who by the way is a 'Paws in the Pines' client).  She told me all about Evelyn and I knew I had found a friend and business associate that also loved and cared for animals.  With Evelyn, I have met some very nice people and great animals, and can’t wait to meet some more!

Between my daughter Penny & I, we have 4 big dogs & 1 little dog which is mine, all of them rescues and 1 Calico Kitty who rules the house.

Auntie Bonnie Ahlstrom

I was an only child who lived in the country and grew up with all kinds of animals as my friends.  We always had dogs and cats but also rabbits, chickens, horses, birds, guinea hens, fish, turtles and for one day a monkey.  One day was all it took for me to realize that monkeys were a lot of work and they bite.

When I married, my dog and cat went with me, but unfortunately there was no way I could take my horse the 700 miles to Eureka.  So ended my dream of becoming a horse trainer.  I focused my attention on the business world and later raising my son.  Of course being an animal loving Mom, my son had nearly every kind of animal that zoning in Sacramento would allow us to have.

In 1996, after 32 years in the business world, I retired and could finally devote sufficient time to things I loved.  I volunteered for Pleasanton Humane Society and Community Concern for Cats.  When I moved to Cambria in1999, I signed up as a volunteer at HART even before our house was finished.  I have held numerous positions at HART, but have concentrated on trapping and spaying and neutering feral cats in the last few years.  It is rewarding and we have seen the number of trapped feral cats go from 50+ per year to less than 10 a year.  Less kittens are a good thing.

I am honored to be part of the Auntie Team and look forward to caring for your pets.  I promise they will get the same loving care and attention as my own five kitties (Clemmentine, Brando, Bailey and Miss Kitty).
